Title: To infinity and beyond with ordinals

Abstract: In 1880’s, G. Cantor introduced two notions of “infinities”: cardinals and ordinals. In this session, we will talk about the latter. Ordinals are often marketed as generalizations of the natural numbers. However, as it is the case with most generalizations, certain aspects tend to fall apart. This talk will be accessible to all, regardless of their mathematical background.
