CMIT is proudly celebrating its seventh foundation day, S7, and we're thrilled to share this special occasion with you!
As part of the celebrations, we are hosting inspiring talks by renowned mathematicians, including authors of books you often study from. These talks are designed to ignite your curiosity, broaden your perspective, and showcase the beauty of mathematics.
Join us with a curious spirit for an exciting series of events - where you'll challenge yourself, explore new concepts, and engage in lively discussions that make math both fun and meaningful.
Here are the details of the prominent speakers who are going to share their knowledge and experience with us -
1) Dr. Narayanan N
Associate Professor, Department of Mathematics, IIT Madras
Dr. Narayanan specializes in Combinatorics, Combinatorial Algebra, and Graph Theory, and has an Erdős number of 2, reflecting his close collaborations with leading mathematicians. He has organized numerous seminars and conferences, and his research spans structural graph theory, graph coloring, decompositions, and graph ideals. At IIT Madras, he inspires students through his engaging teaching and deep research contributions.
2) Dr. M. Ashok Kumar
Associate Professor and Head, Department of Mathematics, IIT Palakkad
With a Ph.D. from IISc Bangalore, Dr. Ashok Kumar's research lies at the intersection of information theory, statistics, and probability, with contributions to Rényi entropy and robust statistical inference. He has worked globally - including at the Indian Statistical Institute and Technion - and received prestigious recognitions such as the SERB VAJRA grant. Known for making complex mathematics accessible and practically relevant, he is a source of inspiration for students and researchers alike.
3) Prof. S. Kumaresan
Founder, Mathematics Training and Talent Search (MTTS) Programme
Prof. Kumaresan has transformed math education in India since 1993 through student-focused, discovery-based learning. A former professor at the University of Hyderabad, he is the author of widely used textbooks such as Linear Algebra: A Geometric Approach and A Course in Differential Geometry and Lie Groups. Honored with the INSA Teachers Award, he continues to inspire generations through his teaching, writing, and mentorship, serving as the academic backbone of MTTS even after stepping down from administrative roles.
