CMIT event : Tangent Tuesdays, 13 th August

Tangent Tuesdays

CMIT is excited to launch a Summer Project Talk Series, where students can present the projects they worked on during their internships. This series will be a recurring event every Tuesday, offering a platform for knowledge exchange and inspiration.

The first session will kick off this Tuesday, and we strongly encourage everyone to attend this and support your peers as they share their valuable insights.

Speaker: Aparna Bade
Title: Dinitz problem
Date and Time: 13th August 2024 | 9 pm
Venue: PSB 1207

Abstract: The four-color problem was a main driving force for the development of graph theory as we know it today, and coloring is still a topic that many graph theorists like best. We shall discuss a simple-sounding coloring problem, raised by Jeff Dinitz in 1978, which defied all attacks until its astonishingly simple solution by Fred Galvin fifteen years later.

Speaker: Tanisha Talekar
Title: Quiver me timbers
Date and Time: 13th August 2024 | 9:30 pm
Venue: PSB 1207

Abstract: Ahoy! Prepare to embark on a fascinating journey where seemingly unrelated topics will reveal their intriguing connections. We'll start by exploring Artin braid groups and Artin-Tits groups, delving into their unique properties. Next, we'll shift our focus to quivers, a special class of graphs, and examine their associated path algebras. The climax of our discussion will be uncovering the fascinating “braid actions” on the Zig-Zag algebra related to specific types of quivers.

Hope to see you all there!!!
